Waleed Al Awadhi Appointed Chair of the Africa/Middle-East Regional Committee (AMERC)

Waleed Al Awadhi, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Commodities Authority of the United Arab Emirates, was elected Chair of the Africa/Middle East Regional Committee (AMERC) of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) for the remainder of the 2024–2026 term.

This election followed the conclusion of the official voting period on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, according to the official announcement issued by the organization.

The Africa/Middle-East Regional Committee (AMERC) is one of the four regional committees within the IOSCO structure. It focuses on enhancing cooperation and coordination among securities regulatory authorities in the Africa and Middle East regions, facilitating the exchange of regulatory expertise, and developing supervisory frameworks for capital markets.
