AMERC Annual Meeting

The Regional Committee for Africa and the Middle East (AMERC) held its annual meeting virtually on 31 March 2026, with the participation of the committee members and the participation of the UASA General Secretariat, represented by the Secretary General. The Committee discussed a number of key topics related to IOSCO’s 2026 work program and the activities of the regional committee, including updates on the IOSCO Board’s work and capacity-building initiatives. Members also reviewed developments in financial markets across the region and the measures taken to enhance market resilience in the face of emerging challenges. The meeting also included a presentation of the results of the survey on members’ priorities, alongside a discussion session on strengthening AMERC’s engagement with platform providers, with a view to combating online fraud and enhancing investor protection.
In addition, the meeting featured thematic sessions on supervisory challenges, the use of technology and artificial intelligence in financial services, and the importance of enhancing cross-border supervisory cooperation. These sessions brought together representatives from regulatory authorities to exchange insights and experiences on the latest developments in these areas.
